// Our Story

Why My Tennis Fitness Was Created

My Tennis Fitness did not begin with the idea of creating a company.

It developed naturally through years of working with athletes and seeing the same challenges appear again and again. Many tennis players had access to quality technical coaching, but the physical and mental side of performance was often more difficult to develop.

Players struggled to maintain consistent fitness training around busy schedules, tournaments, travel, and everyday responsibilities. Many junior players and competitive athletes also did not have access to tennis-specific strength and conditioning support outside their club environment.

My Tennis Fitness was created to help bridge that gap.

The goal was to provide tennis players with structured, practical, and accessible coaching that supports their long-term development—helping them become stronger, healthier, and more complete athletes.

The Coach Behind My Tennis Fitness

My Tennis Fitness was founded by Nikola Zujic, whose journey in sport started long before coaching.

Born in Serbia, Nikola began playing handball at an early age and entered professional sport as a teenager. His playing career took him across several countries, including Serbia, Austria, Turkey, Tunisia, and Finland. During his years in Finland, and was among the league’s leading scorers and all-star team player for several seasons.

While still competing professionally, Nikola began coaching junior athletes alongside his playing career. What started as something he enjoyed gradually became a new direction, as he developed a deeper interest in how players grow—not only technically, but physically and mentally.

After transitioning into coaching, Nikola continued expanding his knowledge through education in fitness training, strength and conditioning, and sports psychology. He worked as a personal trainer and continued learning through mentorship with experienced professionals, including Marino Basic, a respected strength and conditioning coach who has worked with elite athletes and professional tennis players, among them Karolina Pliskova and Milos Raonic.

This journey led Nikola into tennis-specific strength and conditioning. He joined HVS Tennis, one of Finland’s leading tennis clubs, where he worked with players of different ages and levels—from young juniors beginning their competitive journey to high-performance athletes. Through his role at HVS Tennis and in collaboration with the Tennis Association of Finland, he also worked with Finland’s Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup players, including Otto Virtanen, Patrik Niklas-Salminen, and other nationally and internationally competing athletes.

These experiences gave Nikola valuable insight into the demands of tennis and the importance of building athletes through a structured, long-term approach.

// The Idea Behind My Tennis Fitness

Making Tennis Fitness More Accessible

While working with tennis players, Nikola noticed a challenge that appeared repeatedly.

Many players understood the importance of fitness training, but maintaining consistency was difficult. Tournament schedules, travel, limited resources, and the cost of having a coach present at all times meant that many athletes had to manage their physical preparation on their own.

After opening his own fitness studio at Targa Arena, Nikola continued working with tennis players, including junior players from Grani Tennis. These experiences further reinforced the need for a more flexible approach to tennis-specific fitness.

Instead of accepting that structured training was only available to those with constant access to a coach, Nikola started developing a system that athletes could follow wherever they were. He began creating tennis-specific exercise libraries, structured training programs, and online coaching solutions designed to support players between tournaments, training sessions, and coaching appointments.

The goal was not to replace in-person coaching, but to make quality tennis fitness support available to more players—whether they are competing at a high level or simply want to become better athletes.

This approach became the foundation of My Tennis Fitness.

As My Tennis Fitness continued to grow, Nikola recognized that physical development is only one part of performance. His education in sports psychology and experience working with athletes led to the addition of mental coaching, helping players develop both physically and mentally.

// OUR PHILOSOPHY

Training With Purpose

At My Tennis Fitness, we believe improvement comes from doing the right things consistently—not simply doing more.

Every athlete is different. Their goals, experience, schedule, and challenges are unique. That is why we focus on understanding the player first and creating a structured approach based on what will make the biggest difference.

We believe:

  • Training should have a clear purpose.

  • Quality is more important than quantity.

  • Athletes should understand why they train, not only what they do.

  • Physical and mental development should work together.

  • Long-term habits create long-term progress.

Whether a player is working toward professional tennis, developing as a junior, or competing for enjoyment, the principles remain the same: understand where you are, identify what needs improvement, and build from there.

The goal is not to do more. The goal is to do what matters.
— Nikola Zujic, the Founder & Head Coach of My Tennis Fitness
